Looking for Career advice?

By | August 26, 2015

I’m currently pursuing an online associates degree at a local technical college in supervisory management and in a pickle as to if I move from the La Crosse WI area before I graduate or not. This area is not an are of recent job growth and wondering if it is smart to puruse a different career path before I graduate that way I would know if I like it by the time I graduate? That make sense if not let me know.

Well if you’re moving to an area that’s not growing, the only reason I’d go there is to better my career. If the career path that you’ve chosen is what you’d like to pursue, do it but be a little more open about where you’re looking. You don’t necessarily need an escape path right away, but you do need to have opportunities for growth. Do some more research about where your particular area of interest is growing. Do you have a particular industry that you are interested in — if so, research where large companies in that industry are based and maybe you target that area.

You’re in a pickle? Haha – you can get supervisory management experience working your way up at any fast food restaurant in any city.

It’s pretty safe to say that anywhere you go, there will be available jobs for supervisory/management.

Your last 2 sentences don’t make a lot of sense to me, as in: I don’t really understand what you mean. Anyway, it always makes sense to attain as many different types of work experience as you can. It makes you a well-rounded person and capable of dealing with tough times. People who do that and do their job well seem to always have employers looking for them instead of having to look for work.
