Do I need my license to get into a masters program to teach?

By | September 10, 2015

I am currently in the military and I go to American Military University (online). I am getting my degree in health and sports sciences but it does not lead to a license to teach. My question is could I get my masters in physical education and then get my license to teach from a different college once I am out of the military or do colleges require that you have your license before you can even get into the masters program?

Thanks guys,

You can’t get your teaching license before you have a degree in education. That is why you go to school. The license is from the State, not a university. Once you have your master’s in PE, then apply to the State in which you wish to teach for your license. (Not sure what State you are intersted in, but you may also have to take PRAXIS tests.)
