I had a disagreement with a friend that he could go to any graduate school after finishing undergrad at an online university, but I am not sure if that is correct.

I would check with the admissions dept. of the grad school he wanted to go to. Some online schools are not accredited, so NO, he would not be able to go to grad school with an undergrad from an unaccredited school.

Yes you can however you have to make sure it nationally accredited, basically to make sure all mahor schools acknowledge the university or college you are attending. Do you research… There are even some schools that you can get your masters on like. Like one big one is Strayer University and it is very popular amungst major companies that promote continued education….

Can you in the sense are you able to apply for admission to graduate school then yes, if your undergraduate degree is from an accredited institution you can so apply. Whether that application will be successful is an entirely different matter. Graduate schools are not all (indeed not generally) easy to get in to. And unless you have graduated from something like Open University in England then it is simply the case that on-line degrees are, in the main, not regarded as highly as those earned at brick-and-mortar institutions.
